GREETINGS As we enter the New Year we like to begin by thanking everyone for putting your trust in us to share the true message of the gospel. Our goal is to establish a group of God’s people that will have a firm foundation, and to promote unity “For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ.” (1 Corinthians 12:12) Adding to the number… What a great way to start the New Year. I am excited to welcome a new brother to the body of Christ. In our “Oct.-Nov. newsletter” I shared a personal story of a young man who felt like his whole life was being turned upside-down. You may recall at that time he was losing everything including his family, and never did he try to put the blame on anyone else but himself. If you haven’t read the “Oct-Nov. newsletter” I encourage you to read the section under “Personal Bible Studies” This is Verley Dan, he has shown a great interest in God’s word and has made a huge leap during a very difficult time in his life. Every time Verley felt like he couldn’t take it anymore he would give me a call. I had mention that I was hoping to begin counseling with Verley and his wife LeAnne in December but that never happened. Appointments were scheduled but seem to never work out. Verley says he is not giving up. But to add to the difficulties in his life, on November 30, 2009 Verley also lost his dad. It’s a very painful time for him but he has learned to draw closer to God at times like this. He is looking forward to great changes and has just started a new job with the construction work going on at the school. Please continue praying for Verley Dan and the recovery of his family. He thanks you for your prayers and looks forward to a new life in Christ. The Study of Genesis Every third weekend Bear Valley and Brown Trail will alternate in bringing to the Navajo reservation a 6 hr. lesson which can be taken for credit (via. Brown Trail) if desired. For the month of January and February the classes are being held in Kayenta and are subject to change. Wayne Burger from Bear Valley kicked off the first study in Genesis and did a terrific job in keeping everyone on board. I have always enjoyed the teachings of Genesis and by listening to everyone’s commit they are looking forward to returning in February. From Fort Defiance there were six of us who car pooled. Virgil Morgan was one and said he could not think of a time when he has ever done something like this. He said he enjoyed the class and was very thankful that we asked him to come along. Another couple, Tony and Cheryl went with us and showed a lot of interest in the class. Returning to the church Cheryl had fist joined us back in August 2009 and said she attended worship here some time back. We encouraged her to come back, but it wasn’t until she and her husband Tony received a Christmas card from us that inspired them to return. They have been our greatest inspiration this year. We could not ask for a more devoted couple. They have attended every Bible class, devotion and Sunday worship this month. Cheryl even attends the ladies class on Thursday, and has brought her sister twice and just this Sunday as brought her mom to worship with us. Tony says they have been searching, going from church to church but always questioning the teachings. After studying and worshiping with us for a month, he said they are very grateful to know that we are preaching and teaching Scripture. Again we look forward to positive changes. Please add them to your prayer list. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow… I love it! Unlike Kayenta where the snow melts after a couple of days, here we see it day after day. School was even cancelled for an entire week. Pam and I have been enjoying the shoveling of snow even into the late hours of the night. One day I shoveled the parking lot for 6 hours and boy did I feel it the next day. But it was good. FINAL WORDS It’s comforting to know that you are all praying for us and in return we will remember you in our prayers. May God bless each of you for all that you do in Him. With love in Christ, Terry & Pam Laurence
