Dear Brethren, Greetings from the Fort Defiance church of Christ, we are always happy to share our newsletters with you and hope you find them to be heartening. We thank you all for the encouragement you continue to give us and for keeping us in your prayers. What amazes us is that there are so many of you whom we have not met, and yet have put your confidence in us to do the work we have been called out to do. I know that you will be even more encouraged to know that the excitement and dedication we carry continues to grow. Special Thanks We received a very encouraging letter along with some extra funding to help us in our efforts here on the Navajo reservation from the Rio Rancho church of Christ in New Mexico The letter explained how it was through our newsletters that made the difference in their understanding of the work we are involved in and how please it made the brethren to be able to help us at this time. We are thankful and greatly moved by your love and willingness to give from your hearts. It reminds us to continue to glorify God who always provides when the need is at hand, thank you. Special thanks also goes out to Holden Ave CofC in AR, Beedeville CofC in AR, and Centerville CofC in TN. for working together in Christ to provide the church here with a beautiful van. We were shocked to hear that we were getting a van to help us with the work here. Andy May (on right in photo) and others who came out from Newport Arkansas to help with the VBS both in 2009 and 2010 saw the need for a van, so Andy said he would keep his eye open for one. We just can’t thank you all enough for your involvement and your kind and loving hearts. This brings us to our knees and fills our eyes with tears. We certainly have been blessed. May God bless you even more.Gospel Meeting – for several months we looked forward to meeting Stan Crowley who is one that is very sincere about the Lord’s work. He spent four days with us. The first day we handed out flyers and visited with the community. The following three gorgeous days gave us an opportunity to take advantage of our clothing give-a-way. We were able to give at least 80% of the clothes we had which mostly came from the Hico congregation in TX. when they out for our Bible camp.
This gospel meeting week really gave us an opportunity to reach out. We gave flyers and tracks out during the clothing give-a-way. And I was able to set up three in home Bible studies. Unfortunately all three Bible studies did not go as plan, but the good news is that I had other unexpected Bible studies due to our efforts that week. David Davis was one who visited us during our devotion and we ended up studying into the night after everyone had gone home. He said he is in the process of checking out all the churches in town. Please keep him in your prayers we hope to study with him again. William & Julia are another couple we met during this week and have had three Bible studies so far and they have been attending worship. William is requesting prayer for him to have the strength to make this big turn in his life. Copper Basin Bible Camp This turned out to be a very rewarding weekend for all of us. Tom Johnson with the Camelback church of Christ in Phoenix asked me if I would come and speak. I told him I would be glad to. This was an annual (senior) meeting in Prescott, AZ for several congregations out the Phoenix area . My lesson came from the book of James, one of my favorite books in the New Testament. The lesson was very personal for me, which made the delivery much more sincere. I was glad to hear from many that the lesson hit home for them too. Thank you for inviting us to share the moment and the beautiful camp area with you. Final Words We pray that where ever you are in your spiritual life, that you will find the joy which comes from applying the living word to your daily walk. We also encourage you not to lose focus on the promise that is to be rewarded to all who are faithful. “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:23-25 (NASB95)
With love in Christ, Terry & Pam Laurence
